All of us wait for a break from our hectic schedule. Nepal doesn’t have provision of holidays two days a week but there are definitely a lot of public holidays. Nepal holds leading position when it come to providing many public holidays. But this year Government has cut off many Nepal public holidays 2076 reducing the number to 89 from 104. Out of total number of holidays 67 will be applicable to all civil servants whereas 22 will be for limited people representing different culture and religion. Compared to 2076 Government offices will open 22 days more in 2076. I have listed the number of holidays we will get in coming year.
The proposed holidays to be removed are of the Democracy day, Civil Service day, Republic day, National Unity day, Democracy day and Martyrs day. Similarly, other holidays for festivals of hindu religion as Ghatasthapana, Kojagrat Purnima, Ram Nawami, Krishna Janmastami and partial holidays on the occasion of Janai Purnima and Rishi Panchami is to be removed coming year. Among above mentioned holidays indra sjatra and ghode jatra holiday is for Kathmandu Valley only.
