SAARC Scholarship is an initiative by South Asian University in Delhi, India. South Asian University was established in 2010 by eight members of the SAARC countries. They are Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh,Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan.

SAU abbreviation for South Asian university started in 2010. The university offers post graduate and PHD programs in Delhi, India. The SAU scholarship is for students willing to pursue their masters and PHD program. For now the university has 11 post graduate faculties and only one faculty for undergraduate studies. The degrees of SAU are recognized by all SAARC countries and best thing about studying in the university is that you will learn amidst diversity. Which SAARC countries are offering SAARC Scholarship?

Now, India is offering SAARC scholarship to less developed SAARC countries which are Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan. The students applying for this scholarship should be a national of SAARC country. There are basically three kinds of scholarships namely Presidents Scholarship, Silver Jubilee Scholarship and SAU merit Scholarship. All the scholarship is based in entrance exam that helps in April of every year and application form. The deadline is usually on March. The entrance examination fee is INR 650. Once you give the examination the course will start in next year July.

Privileges form the scholarship

The SAARC scholarship covers tuition fee, accommodation fee and monthly allowance. The monthly allowance is INR 7000 for masters degree and INR 10000 for Phd degree. However the scholarship is granted for first year and then depends on academic performance and discipline maintenance.

  • Application must have completed 12 years of school.
  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree or should be in last year of your bachelors.
  • If you are applying for PHD then, Masters degree is a must.
