Indian Embassy 3000 Scholarships for Nepal

The Government of India (GOI) provides scholarships to around 3000 Nepalese students every year for undergoing various courses in both India and Nepal in the levels of plus two, Bachelor, Master, and Ph. D. The scholarships are provided for different fields of study that include medicine, engineering, music, and fine arts, agriculture, computer application, veterinary science, and many others.

There are various schemes of scholarships under the 3000 scholarships provided. Each scheme includes a particular portion of the overall scholarships that are provided. A brief description of these scholarship schemes is provided below:

Compex Scholarship Scheme: This scheme provides around 220 scholarships for undergraduate courses in n MBBS (Self-financing), Engineering (BE), Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Agriculture (B.Sc.Ag), Dairy Technology (B.Sc. – DT), Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & AH) and B.Sc. (Nursing) in Indian Universities and Institutions. To get selected for the scholarship, one has to go through a qualifying examination that Embassy conducts at Kathmandu and Birgunj. The scheme tentatively opens in January/February every year, and the examination is held in April/May.

General Cultural Scholarship scheme: Under this scheme, 110 scholarships are provided for undergraduate courses, i.e., BBA, BCA, BA, BA (Hons), B.Sc., B.Com, and BA (Music/Performing Arts) in Indian Universities.

Silver Jubilee Scholarship Scheme: There are 120 scholarship seats in this scheme. Admission is provided to Nepalese candidates for MBA, MCA, MA, M.Sc & Ph.D. in all streams except Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, and Para-medical courses in Indian Universities and Institutions.

Technical Cooperation Scheme: To provide comprehensive and integrated training to in-service candidates of GoN/Public Sector nominees of GoN, 30 seats are allotted to Nepal under the Technical Cooperation Scheme (TCS) of the Colombo Plan and 220 seats for employees of GON & public/private sector under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme.

Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme: Scholarships are provided to students enrolled in Bachelor 1st year/1st semester of undergraduate courses in recognized educational institutions in Nepal. A total of 200 scholarships are provided, which are distributed as Medical 50 (5 years course), Engineering 50 (4 years course), and Other disciplines 100 (Scholarship will be restricted to 3 yrs only)

Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme: Under this scheme, scholarship is provided to 2000 students enrolled in Class-XI in recognized schools/colleges in Nepal.

Dr. Homi J. Baba Scheme: The number of scholarships provided is 40, and it is for Nepalese students studying ME/M.Tech in India.

Ayush Scholarship Scheme: Under this scheme, the Embassy of India provides admission to Undergraduate/ Post Graduate courses in Ayurveda/Unani/Homeopathy system of medicines in Indian institutions.

APS Scholarship Scheme: Under APS Scholarship Scheme, the Embassy of India provides admission to School level courses starting from Class VI to IX  and XI ( boys and girls) in Army Public Schools (APS) in  APS Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), Class VI to IX (boys only) for APS Dhaula Kuan (Delhi), and class VI to IX (girls only ) for APS Noida (UP). There are 20 seats for Class VI, 5 for Class XI in Pithoragarh, One seat each from Class VI to IX (Boys only) in Dhaula Kuan, and one seat each from Class VI to IX(Girls only) in Noida.

SAARC Scholarship Scheme: Under this scheme, admission is provided to B.Sc (Hospitality & Hotel Management) courses in Indian institutions.

Nepal Aid Fund Scholarship Scheme: Under Nepal Aid Fund Scholarship Scheme, admission is provided to Nepalese candidates in M.Sc (Agriculture) in Indian Universities and Institutions.

These various scholarship schemes are for the benefit of the students. Eligibility criteria are set for each of these schemes. The candidate for the scholarship has to apply for the scholarship and also has to go through the selection process, which may be examinations or interviews. THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SCHOLARSHIP

You cannot apply for more than two subjects for a scholarship.
