India has been playing an essential role in the development of the human resources of Nepal by providing an Indian embassy scholarship to around 3000 Nepalese students every year on different levels like +2, undergraduates, graduate, and Ph.D. courses.

Indian Embassy of Nepal issues an invitation every year for the eligible candidates to apply for the scholarship in various courses with limited seats like engineering, medicine, agriculture, computer application, business administration, fine arts, veterinary sciences, music, etc. Eligible students will be provided scholarships based on their courses.
Indian Embassy provides different Indian Embassy scholarship programs for Nepali students. Nepali students are lucky to have these scholarships in the renowned university of India as a scholarship to enhance their careers. In the past few years, the flow of students in India has been increasing exponentially. In this case, we can say that India’s contribution to building our Human resources is commendable.
Generally, selected students will be sent to different universities in India for their studies, or some may be provided scholarships while studying in Nepal. These scholarships are provided based on other schemes described below. Every year around 3000 scholarships are announced by the Indian Embassy scholarship for Nepali students. Here is a list of a few scholarships provided by the Indian Embassy.
Complex Indian Embassy scholarship scheme
Under this Indian embassy scholarship scheme, the government of India provides scholarships in undergraduate courses like MBBS, Engineering, Agriculture, Nursing, Veterinary sciences, and Nursing in different Indian universities and institutions. You must be eligible under the criteria of the Indian Embassy to apply for it.
Students who have passed +2 or waiting for the results may also apply for it, but they must be in between 17 to 22 years of age. Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Biratnagar will conduct a qualifying exam. Based on it, eligible candidates will be selected. With the COMPEX Scheme, the Embassy of India provides scholarships for undergraduate courses in Engineering (BE), Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy), Agriculture (B.Sc-Agri), Dairy Technology (B.Sc. – DT), and B.Sc. (Nursing) in Indian Universities and Institutes. The scheme opens in April/May. It is advertised in local newspapers and on the Indian Embassy website.
It is better to study in India with the Indian Embassy scholarship program for Nepalese. Nepal and India have similar cultures, traditions, and festivals. Instead of choosing Abroad Study in the USA, Australia, Canada, and Europe, it is a good option to choose Indian university scholarship programs.
AYUSH scholarship scheme
Indian Embassy provides this scholarship for students who want to pursue further study in Ayurveda or Homeopathy. Candidates must have passed +2 with a significant subject like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English and not less than 50% in English. For undergraduates, candidates must be 17-22 years of age, and for the postgraduates, they must be below 30. Candidates are selected based on their academic performance. Ayush scholarship provides a scholarship for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani. The Indian embassy itself funds the Ayush Indian Embassy scholarship. The scholarship opens in May/June. The information is in the local newspaper and the Indian embassy website: www.indianembassy.org.np.
APS scholarship scheme
This Indian embassy scholarship scheme is provided to school-level students of classes VI to IX. To be eligible for this scholarship, one must have secured at least 60% for the government and 70% for the private schools. Candidates must be in good health and have proficiency in English. There are certain age criteria based on class as per the rule of the Indian Embassy. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and selected ones will be informed by telephone.
Under APS Scholarship Scheme, scholarships are provided for School-level courses from classes 6 to 9 and 11. This scholarship is provided for Army Public Schools in Pithoragarh Uttarakhand, Class 6 to 9 in APS Dhaula Kuan ( Delhi ) for boys only, and classes 6 to 9 in APS Noida (UP) for girls only. The scholarship opens in January/ February on the Indian embassy website.
General Scholarship scheme
This Indian embassy scholarship is provided to candidates who want to study undergraduate courses like BBA, BCA, BA, B.Sc., B.Com, and BA. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have passed +2 with compatible subjects with not less than 60% marks in aggregate and in English too. Your age must be in between 17 to 22 years. If you apply for music, you must submit images of your performances and vocal records. If you are using fine arts, you must submit your art/sculpture photographs. Through GSS, Indian Embassy provides a scholarship for undergraduate courses. They are BBA, BCA, BA, BA (Hons), B.Sc., B.Com, and BA (Music/Performing Arts). The scholarship is announced in December/January, and The Indian Embassy Website uploads the notice.
SAARC scholarship scheme
Those who want to study B.Sc. (Hospitability and Hotel Management) in Indian universities will be provided this scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have passed +2 with compatible subjects with not less than 60% marks in aggregate and in English too.
Your age must be in between 17 to 22 years. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and based on their performances in an interview, selected candidates will be informed by a phone call. This scholarship is opened every Nov/Dec. Please visit its official sites for more information.
Under this scholarship, admission is provided to B.Sc (Hospitality & Hotel Management) undergraduate courses. Indian Embassy website announced the scheme in December/January.
Silver Jubilee scholarship scheme
This Indian embassy scholarship is provided for the courses like MBA, MCA, MA, M.Sc & Ph.D. in all streams except Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, and Para-medical. Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in Bachelor level from the recognized university to be eligible for this scholarship, and he/she should be less than 30 years of age.
Similarly, for the Ph.D., one must have at least 60% marks at the Master’s level from a recognized university and an age not more than 35 for men and 45 for women. Selection criteria are based on the academic records and performance in the interview.
The Silver Jubilee Scholarship Scheme provides scholarships in fields like MBA, MCA, MA, MSc, and Ph.D. The Ph.D. Indian Embassy scholarship is not for engineering, agriculture, and medicine courses. The embassy announced the scholarship in December/ January through its website. This scholarship is for postgraduate studies.
Homi J. Bhabha Scholarship Scheme
This Indian embassy scholarship scheme is provided for Nepalese students studying Master of engineering in different Universities and Institutions in India. Applicants must have secured a minimum of 60% mark in BE and not be above 25 years of age. Candidates are selected based on their academic records and their performance in the interview.
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and those selected will be informed by telephone. Generally, this scholarship opens in Nov/Dec. You can look at the national newspaper and follow the official site of the Indian embassy of Nepal.
This scholarship is provided in honor of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha. It provides Indian Embassy scholarships for Master of Engineering(ME) in Indian Universities and institutions. Indian embassy website announced the scheme around December/ January.
Nepal Aid fund scholarship scheme
Under this Indian embassy scholarship scheme, those who want to pursue their Master’s in Agriculture are provided a scholarship. Candidates must have at least 60% marks in B.Sc. (Agriculture) and a minimum of 50% in English subject in plus 2. He/she must not be above 25 years of age. Only selected candidates will be called for interviews. Candidates are selected based on their academic records and their performance in the interview. Those selected will be informed through a telephone. Nepal Aid Fund Indian Embassy scheme provides a scholarship for Nepalese candidates to pursue MSc in agriculture at various Indian Universities. The Indian embassy announces the project in December/ January every year through the Indian embassy website.
Mahatma Gandhi scholarship scheme
This Indian embassy scholarship is provided to students studying in +2 in various colleges in Nepal. Every year Indian Embassy of Nepal offers a scholarship to around 2000 students under this scheme. To be eligible for this scholarship, one must be Nepali citizenship. They must be regular class XI students and have secured at least 55% in SEE/class X for government passed out and 75% for private passed out.
Candidate’s Family income must be less than NRs 120000 per annum, and s/he must be 14-20 years of age. The selected candidate will get NRs 2000 every month in the first year and will be continued only if the candidates get at least 50% mark in Class IX. Candidates are selected based on their academic records and their performance in the interview.
Apply for Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship 2023
The Mahatma Gandhi scholarship is a bit different than the others. The embassy of India provides Indian Embassy scholarships to Nepali students studying in Nepal in grade 11. The selected students will get NRs 200 per month for the first year. If the marks of selected students decline below 50%, the scholarship dismisses. The scholarship announces in November/ December every year. Indian embassy and local newspaper disclose the scholarship and other relevant information.
Golden jubilee scholarship scheme
Every year, Indian Embassy provides a scholarship for students studying at the Bachelor level in different courses like engineering, medicine, and any other discipline in various universities of Nepal. To be eligible for this scholarship, one must be Nepali citizenship and have secured at least 70% marks in +2. Family income must be less than NRs 120000 per annum, and s/he must be 17-22 years of age. Selected candidates will get NRs 4000 every month in the first year and will be continued only if the candidates get at least 50% mark in Class IX. Candidates are selected based on their academic records and their performance in the interview.
Apply for Golden Jubilee Scholarship Program 2022-023
This Indian Embassy scholarship is for Nepali students enrolled in Bachelor’s degrees in Nepal. This is for first-year and first-semester students. The selected students will get a scholarship of NRs 4000 per month for the field of Engineering and medicine. Similarly, NRs 3000 for other disciplines. The embassy dismisses the scholarship if a student fails to get 50 % minimum marks. The Indian embassy will announce additional information regarding eligibility and the application process in November/December.
