How to Prepare SEE Examination
Previously termed as SLC, Examination of 10th grade is now called Secondary Education Examination, abbreviated SEE. SEE is the final examination in the secondary school system in Nepal. After completion of SEE, you can now officially enter a higher secondary schooling system. National Examination Board (NEB ) upgraded SLC to SEE and introduced the grading system. SEE always takes place in March every year and thousands of students take this examination. This year also students, schools, and parents are working very hard for the SEE happening in march 2020.
Every student must take the SEE examination in order to complete the Secondary schooling system. SEE is actually a very big thing in Nepali society. More than students, it is the parent who feels more pressurized during this exam. Schools also make this exam a very big deal for students. They make their students study almost 12 hours in school and then they almost kill them with tons of assignments. With this behavior, students also somewhere believe that it is very important to get good marks in SEE.
SEE in past
We used to hear many unfortunate cases of suicide in the past. Students killed themselves when they didn’t get expected results. But now with the introduction of grading or the CGPA system, it has reduced suicides a bit. No matter how many changes are made students still feel the same pressure while studying for SEE. I present to you little tips on how you can study fruitfully and achieve the best results.
Practice old exam question papers
This is no new thing for SEE students, I distinctly remember my teachers making me solve all the old question papers. SEE students get old question papers as a class assignment, home assignments, and even vacation assignments. You may be angry with your teachers for making you do all the past papers but believe this really helps. This will give you an actual idea of how the paper will be and how to manage time for that. Don’t skip any past question because a repeat of question is very common in SEE. Also, practice time management skills. Separate time for each section and solve the questions accordingly.
Organize study place
Well, it is no new thing that the mind works best in an organized environment. Make sure you have good space in your room to spread your books, notes, and all the necessary supplies. Keep everything in place while you sit for study. This will prevent distraction. If I can’t find my pencil while I am studying I just get distracted and end up the scrolling news feed. So please don’t do this.
Keep everything in place and study without getting distracted. Also, you need good lighting and a comfortable chair. Don’t go for a too comfortable chair as you will end up sleeping. For many friends, good music works really well. You can even go for soothing music to get all your focus on studies. So the bottom line is that an organized study place really helps but still it is about your choices. I have many friends who study in the most cluttered environment.
Use charts and diagrams
Our teachers teach us with the help of flowcharts for a reason. You remember flowcharts much easily than written documents. This especially works with formulas or any procedures. Visual aids are really helpful, saying from my own experience. Make diagrams while studying. This will add freshness and also break the monotony. You can even use bright colors to highlight certain things. This is a really easy but useful tip for all the students. So for our SEE students as well, don’t tire your mind instead study smart.
Engage with others
Studying with a friend helps really lot while preparing for the exam. Recite or explain your answers to others and this will help you remember everything. You can even teach your friend or help him with a numerical that you just learned. This way you will never forget what you have learned. When you explain your answer this will give a clear idea of what you have studied so far.
Take breaks in between your study
While you may think studying for hours will be helpful, but this can actually tire you. Taking breaks between your studies is very important. This will break the monotony and freshen up your mind. After each break, you will be fresh and can understand things easily.
Take a break for lunch, water breaks or even get out for some time. Maybe just play with your pet and get back to work afterward.
Develop a study routine that best works for you and stick to that routine. Include all the breaks in your routine. Regular breaks can actually enhance your productivity but don’t be carried away. Stay focused and stick to your routine.
Group study with friends
Group study with friends will help you overcome each other’s weaknesses. You can learn from your friends and teach your friends. You can even get answers to questions you don’t know, solve some difficult problems. If executed properly group study can be really meaningful, just make sure to not turn it into gossip time or game time. Stay focused on one topic and start another topic gradually.
Eat good food
You may have felt that as well. Studying really drains your energy and you need good food while you are studying. Don’t go for heavy meals as you will feel lazy. Eat light but nutritious meals in between your study. As we now mind doesn’t work with an empty stomach so keep your tummy full. Eat a good meal before you start studying and in the breaks as well. And also during the exam days also don’t forget to have good food. You will need good food to overcome all the nervousness and fear. Avoid sugar during exam days as it drains your energy very soon.
Stay calm in your exam day
If you get nervous on your exam day then all your hard work will just be a waste. To properly plan your exam day and stay calm. Don’t forget your supplies and yes keep them organized. I remember my SLC days when I forgot the calculator in my science examination. I had to borrow it from my bench mate and it was really hard to share a calculator So please don’t repeat my mistake. Keep everything ready in advance a day before your exam. Don’t wait for the exam day. And very important, keep your entrance card safe. Reach to the exam center at least half an hour early.
Other than this you know very well how and when to do things properly. Good luck! We will keep updating you with new articles on SEE!
You must know the requirement of grades for your further studies. It helps you to prepare SEE exam with a motive and mission.
SEE Grade Requirement For Admission in NEB
SEE (Secondary Education Examination) examination is known as SEE. Grade 11 and Grade 12 have also been brought into secondary level education. Recently, NEB (National Examination Board) came up with a grading system for SEE examination. The grades students shall obtain in the examination in grade 10 will determine their eligibility on different subjects. This is also called NEB Grade requirement for being eligible for higher studies. For every subject, there is a certain SEE Grade Requirement in NEB.
Initially, lots of confusion arose associated with a grading system. There were also some concerns about the control and determination of the grades. Students, teachers, and parents were confused regarding the minimum requirements for enrolling in Grade 11. NEB grade requirement is given below. There are different NEB grade requirements for different fields of study.
Addressing the confusion, then HSEB (Higher Secondary Education Board) now also known as NEB (National Examination Board) came up with a summary of the NEB grade requirements.
SEE grades comes in a format like shown in the image.
NEB Grade requirement for admission
Here is the SEE Grade Requirement to be eligible to join NEB.

For any subject group, the students want to study, he/she requires a minimum GPA of 1.6 and Grade as defined in the table above. However, for Science Subject Groups, the minimum GPA requirement is 2. Grade requirement in NEB suggests that minimum “C+” is required in Science and Math, minimum “C” in English and similarly, “D+” is needed in Social and Nepali. The grade requirements explained in the table above have been cited by the National Examination Board in their official resources too.
As described in the SEE Grade Requirement in NEB, one fulfilling all grade requirements but still failing to meet minimum GPA becomes ineligible to enroll in Grade 11. With the introduction of the Grading System, the examination governing body has also introduced a system where a student shall be able to re-attempt the exam. Should a student feel like, he can improve the grade; he can re-appear in the examination for the specific subject.
SEE Result is out and its a time for students to select the colleges for further studies. Now, SEE passed students should make a vision and ambition for a career. The first thing for students is their interest. It’s a well-known fact that if interest and education meet, you can achieve success earlier.
GPA needed after SEE Result to join colleges
- To study science, 2.0 GPA is needed along with Grade C+ in Maths and Science and at least D+ on English, Nepali and Social Studies.
- To study Management, 1.6 GPA is needed along with at least D+ on English, Nepali, Maths and Social Studies.
- To study Humanities and Education, 1.6 GPA is needed along with at least D+ on English, Nepali, and Social Studies.

What after SEE
The first thing you need to do after SEE is to feel your heart to learn your interest. You have a few options now either to select science or management for a good career. Some students feel science as a burden. You can get onto the management if you feel so. Talking about myself, I was interested in engineering / Information Technology and I used to feel a burden on accounts. I am happy to choose science after my SEE. After completion of Science, I had a path to choose to engineer and I am an Electrical engineer now.
Likewise, SEE is a gate to choose your future. Although you can choose a few paths right now. You need to choose the subject which you are interested in.
There used to be saying during our time around 10 years before. After completing SEE and we were looking after colleges. Old generation people used to hang our mind telling that “Chori Bigrey Nurse, Chora Bigrey Commerce”. It’s a total wrong saying. The scope of Nursing, the managerial subjects is huge. Students can make their career strong where ever they want. The important thing is an interest which a student needs to have.
How to choose Plus 2 college
Its a tough matter on choosing colleges. Dedicated study-oriented students choose the best colleges in the town and prepare for the entrance examination. Few students wish to have their life like a free bird after their SEE and look after colleges that are less strict. You are just fifteen sixteen years old, so you need to be dedicated to studies. It’s not the time to lose the discipline as well as education.
Choosing a college is although a tough matter. Many students look after their company to join college together. It’s not a problem on it. But the good selection of colleges is needed after SEE.
Here are few tips on choosing colleges after SEE.
- Choose colleges having good plus two results.
- Choose colleges which have a good reputation on discipline
- See the name of teachers who are teaching there and gather knowledge of teachers. you can ask with seniors in this matter.
- See College tuition fees. Colleges having high college fees can not be always said as pretty good. Colleges having mild fees are also the best. See your financial status too before selecting colleges.
